Notes Attic is now available in beta

Notes Attic is a macOS menu bar app that keeps a copy of the notes you delete in Apple Notes. The beta is now available.

When you delete a note, Notes moves it to Recently Deleted and permanently erases it after a while. Once a day, while your Mac is on, Notes Attic checks that folder and saves what it finds to a location you choose. You keep writing, using, and deleting notes just as you always have.

Each note is saved as HTML and Markdown, together with its attachments and its original creation and modification dates, in folders organized by year and month. Notes Attic works with iCloud notes and skips locked ones. A few kinds of content, such as handwriting, can’t be exported directly, so they are saved as images instead.

Notes Attic is distributed outside the App Store. It is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The beta is free. The full release will also be free to use, with an optional one-time purchase.
